After discovering Karis on Instagram and realizing she lived nearby, it was a no-brainer that we’d make some photos together. We chose the Beaches neighbourhood of Toronto (or just “The Beach” if you’re a purist) during golden hour. To help out those golden hour tones, my gold reflector was put to use, with Karis’ friend Jessica tasked with being our photo assistant. First we setup in front of the famous art-deco building known as the Waterworks (or the “RC Harris Water Filtration Plant” if you’re being official). There’s a beautiful grassy slope here that leads down to Lake Ontario — so much space for activities!

With the golden hour light fading fast, we headed down to the rocky beach.
Long after the sun had set, but while there was still light in the sky, we motored on over to Kew Gardens real quick to eek out what we could of the dying light. These black-eyed Susans were in full bloom in late summer, providing an amazingly colourful backdrop for our last few photos.
“What do black-eyed Susans taste like?”, you definitely weren’t asking yourself. Karis has your answer:
