After countless photo shoots with Marietta over the last decade-plus, we still manage to surprise each other and come up with better and better results as the years go by. Marietta has been allergic to beach photos since our very first photo shoot, so this time we ended up at the beautiful but flawed Sutton Place hotel in Halifax, which is one of the newer luxury hotels in town. The workers in the office tower across the way got quite an eyeful.
Marietta had some incredibly kind words to say after our photo shoot:
“A little shoutout to my dear friend @vtography.ca who somehow manages to decipher my (lack of) direction when relaying the visions in my head. Thank you for letting me completely take over all aspects of our shoots together, thank you for getting me, thank you for always making time for me (even when I’m a brat and tell you I don’t feel confident enough to shoot & change my mind last minute), thank you for appreciating my quirks, & thank you for THESE. 11 years of making art together and I still never feel more beautiful than when I see myself through your lens ✨”
I think that’s the nicest thing anyone has ever said about me or my photography in my life. Marietta also told me, “I thought I was gonna look like a frumpy stuffed animal.” And I think you’ll see that that is definitely, certainly, positively not the case at all.
