WENDI LEE X VTOGRAPHY [BEACH]

Believe it or not, in all the times I’ve ever photographed model Wendi Lee, we’ve never taken a single picture that wasn’t indoors. So when Wendi Lee came to visit Ontario again (just move here already!) last month, we finally decided to rectify that and shoot on the shores of Lake Erie. The foul, dirty shores covered in dead fish, that is.

The rotting fish carcasses were only one of the many quirks we encountered that day. First, my journey to Fort Erie took over three hours from Toronto (about double the usual time) due to road closures and accidents and rush hour and people just generally being idiots. Secondly, the battery pack for my strobes was dead, so my plan of shooting Wendi in mixed “sunset + strobe” conditions had to be revised to “sunset only”. Thirdly, Wendi somehow managed to get lipstick right dead centre on the front of her bikini bottoms (don’t ask).

And then came the gawkers. Here’s the thing about Fort Erie — our shoot on the beach was probably the most interesting thing to happen in decades. We know this because of the gaggle of horny teenage guys who sat in their pickup truck, ogling Wendi, revving the engine, and yelling crude things out the window. Good thing Wendi loves attention!
